Furniture provider will better serve the Northeastern and Midwestern states, improve product offering, shorten delivery time, and reduce product damage.
On August 26, National Business Furniture (NBF) opened a new, 100,000-square-foot distribution facility in Cleveland, Ohio, which will grow product offering, increase overall efficiency and improve delivery capabilities.
Jeff Spotts, Director of Logistics, DC Operations and Packaging at NBF, says that stocking product in Cleveland, in addition to existing distribution centers in Austell, Georgia and Reno, Nevada, means that products will get to customers more quickly. Customers will not have to wait as long for delivery, with a reduction of up to three days. “That means higher overall customer satisfaction,” Spotts said.
With inventory capacity now nearly doubled, NBF will be able to broaden their popular “Ships Today” product offering nationwide. More than 800 products, like computer chairs, office desks, file cabinets, and conference tables will be stocked for quick delivery.
Orders coming from the Northeast region of the United States were redirected from Austell on Monday morning, August 26. Within the next two weeks, the facility will become completely functional, serving the Midwest region of the U.S. in addition to the Northeast. Customers will be able to expect delivery of stocked products within one to three days, compared with up to five days previously.
The Cleveland location was deemed the most cost-effective location, based on the distribution of the NBF customer base. NBF will be able to use new, regional carriers, thereby cutting the amount of product handling. Products won’t have to travel as far, reducing damage and decreasing delivery costs.
Spotts said that his staff and many who worked in support of the effort at NBF are to be commended, “We moved this up a full year ahead of expectations,” said Spotts, “but were able to open the distribution center on schedule. It’s been a great accomplishment.”
